Founded in 2015 by former tennis player Benno van Veggel and football agent Jorge Mendes to replace the historic Portugal Open, the Millennium Estoril Open is Portugal’s only ATP Tour event. It is played on the red clay courts of the Clube de Ténis do Estoril, in Cascais, as part of the ATP 250 category. Past champions include Richard Gasquet, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud, while Luca Van Assche lifted the trophy in 2026. The tournament was dropped from the ATP calendar after 2024, returned in 2025 as an ATP Challenger event, and regained its ATP 250 status for 2026 and 2027. The 2026 edition ran from 18 to 26 July; dates for the 2027 edition have not yet been announced.
